On the road.

I am working in Jacksonville this week for the next two days, and I'm already bored. lol. After work, I decided to venture out and see what was walking distance from my hotel. Ladies, there isn't much: A TGIFridays (which I've ordered dinner from the past two nights), a gas station, and few random business offices. Since I don't have much territory to to roam, a co-worker and I have set aside some time tomorrow [after work] to travel north to one of the busiest malls in Florida (and over 160 stores), the Avenues Shopping center and hopefully I'll discover some new options for dinner. For those ladies who travel for work, what do you do to keep yourself busy while you're on the road?

Outfit Picks: Unfortunately, I won't have any new outfit posts until I get back home, because 1). I left my digital camera at home and my blackberry is a horrible substitute (boo for needing more memory to take a decent photo) and 2). If I did have my camera with me, I'd bore you with collared shirts [in a number of colors] and pencil skirts. This seems to be my "on the road" outfit when I'm at events. It's easy and professional :).

I did take some photos prior to my fight yesterday. I like to be comfortable (and casual) on the plane, so my favorite boyfit shorts were my first choice. I paired with my newest shirt from Old Navy, which turned out to be a good idea, considering I had to set up for an event right after I landed.

My blog is on its way to being 50 followers STRONG and I feel so fortunate. THANK YOU, THANK YOU MY LOVELY READERS. I love all of the blogger friends that have made, and I have really come to enjoy the whole blog experience. I smell a contest coming on... I will keep everyone posted within the next few days ;)

Quality, Not Quantity.

...A quote Veronika made on her blog a couple months ago regarding her friends. So so true. I was just thinking about how fortunate I am to have such great, quality friends. I've always had a lot of friends (or associates), but those few people I consider best friends have really lived up to that name. Kati drove up to visit me this weekend and we had a blast just hanging around the house and being the girls we used to be in college.

On Sunday we took a visit to a shopping plaza about 10 minutes away from my home. Funny. As close as this mall is, I rarely stop there. I didn't see much I wanted to purchase, but I did fall in love with two items at Old Navy.

I have been looking for a loose fitted blouse like this and I instantly gravitated to the lavender. It will go great with a pair of skinnys or tucked into a skirt. The best part about this purchase is that it was on clearance for a great deal!

As a University of Florida Graduate, I could never have enough Gator t-shirts! I usually walk past the t-shirt table in disappointment, because an XS is never available. But Sunday was my lucky day!

When I got home from work Monday afternoon, I found a little surprise in the mail! My eBay purchase was here. I won a brand new (with tags), gray and black, Forever 21, wool skirt for less than $12 [last week]. Perfect for the fall. I still haven't decided whether or not I like the look of the glove belt...what do you think? Luckily, I can remove it if I decide it isn't for me!

Are you an eBayer? I always seem to score items that have been sold out in stores. What fun items have you won on eBay?

Ps. Thank you Annie for giving me the "Blog with Substance Award." It definately made me smile when I read your post yesterday :).

Fall Finds: The New Charlotte Russe Collection

Happy Saturday dolls! I woke up early and was able to get some chores out of the way.  The BF has some work obligations this weekend, but I'm excited that one of my best friends, Kati, will be driving up to spend some time with me today and tomorrow. We don't have an agenda quite yet, however she wants to hit the pool! I don't object to it, considering I’ve probably been in my pool three times this Summer…and Fall will be here in no time :).

I was browsing the internet and stumbled upon the new Charlotte Russe Fall Collection, also known as “Society Glam.” Have you ladies seen it? WOW! I love the colors, the sophistication and the versatility of the pieces. Here are my favorite picks:

Ruffled Wool Jacket
I've been on a search for a peacoat this Fall, so this jacket jumped out at me! I love the ruffle trim and the big military buttons add such a nice touch! Only available in white. $44.50.

One Shoulder Bow Top
I'm a big fan of the one-shoulder tops, and I can't get enough of this color! It will go perfectly with a pencil skirt and a cardigan for work, or a pair of skinny's and heels for a night out. $19.50.

Day And Night Blazer
This reminded me of a blazer I purchased at Old Navy a few weeks ago. Definitely a must-have for Fall! I not only wear blazers to work, but I'll pair with a long fitted tunic and jeans for a clean, sophisticated, casual look! $39.50.

Rhinestone Studded Disc Ring
I'm a sucker for cocktail rings! I probably have a million in my jewlery box. I love that it's BIG and gold, so I can mix with my real gold jewelry. $6.50.

Structured Platform Pump
I've been eyeing a few red platform pumps, so I was excited when I saw this in the collection. Red heels can really add some "WOW factor" to any outfit. Shoes are B1G1 for $15 at CR. $32.50.

Metallic Houndstooth Skirt
I LOVE this color! There is also an exposible zipper closer on the back. It appears to be a little longer than the other skirts in the collection, but I'm not quite sure if the length is work appropriate. $18.38 with 25% off offer.

Single Shoulder Glitter Top
Another one-shoulder top that I love. The tint of gold and the flower applique is adorable! It is also fully lined...yey! $24.50.

Sparkle Trim Cardigan
I really wanted to add a few longer cardigans to my wordrobe this Fall, and this makes the list! The metallic trim is genious, and the color would compliment a number of my outfits! $18.38 with 25% off offer.

Tank Dress with Mesh Skirt
I'm not a huge fan of bubble skirts, but I really fancy this dress! Perhaps it's the combination of colors that give it a modern, chic look. $29.50

Clutch Handbag With Chain Strap
Although it doesn't have the quilted look we've all come to love, this is a great alternative to the Chanel Classic Black Caviar handbag. $18.50.

Outfit Picks: Tara and I went to see a comedy show last night! It was my first time seeing a comedy act, and I'm super bummed that I've missed out all these years. Many of the comedians were just starting their careers, so it was young humor I can actually identify with! My ensemble was rather simple. I wore my black, ruffled blouse, jeans and heels.

I'm getting involved & OOTD

A friend and I decided that we really wanted to give back to the community and volunteer, so we did some research and joined our local Red Cross chapter. Yesterday was the first meeting we attended, and I am absolutely thrilled we went! The volunteers are all so amazing. All age groups, leaders within the community and very passionate about their volunteer work. I met a number of people whom I was connected with through business and school.

I am most excited about two projects we are currently working on...a charity golf event and a valentine's gala. I plan events [as part of my job], so I am revealed that I can contribute in a number of areas. If you are interested in volunteering, I urge you to do so. Click here to learn more about getting involved in your area.I will keep everyone posted about my activities with the Red Cross.

Outfit Picks:  I wanted to wear this top today, because I purchased it from Forever 21 this past weekend. I love the puff shoulders and the 3/4 sleeves keep me warm at the office.

Top :: Forever 21
Skirt :: Purchased in China (last seen here)
Belt :: Banana Republic (last seen here)

Do you volunteer your time for a non-profit organization? What made you want to get involved?
Just one more work day left Ladies! ;)

Thank God for friends!

Sunday I spent the day with my girls! A few of us had quite an exhausting week, so Kati surprised us all with a personal masseuse. What a sweetheart! Each of us enjoyed a foot massage, and OH MY GOODNESS, boy was it good! Thank god for friends! It was the perfect ending to a looonng week.

This week began in full steam and it looks like I'll be travelling quite a bit next week. Although, I'll have to live out of a suitcase for four days, i can be happy that it's only a few hours away from home. One thing I love about traveling for work is that It allows me to discover territory I would otherwise never roam...AND It's fun meeting clients for the first time [putting a voice to a face is always nice]. It definitely has it's drawbacks. I hate to be away from the happy hours and the BF [of course]...and the hours are always looooong. It's just part of the job and luckily, it doesn't happen every week :).

Outfit Pick: I couldn't decide what I wanted to wear today. I was just having one of of those blah-blah-i-don't-feel-like-being-pretty days. As I was going through my closet I spotted a dress that I purchased in China and have only worn once. Perfect. There is something so simple about wearing a dress. The only decision you have to make is the shoes and the accessories.

Dress :: Purchased in China (?)
Shoes :: Michael Kors
Handbag :: Mossimo for Target
Necklace :: Forever 21 (last seen here)

Have you ever had a professional massage? Did you think it was worth the price? As I was writing this post, I was thinking about my trip to China this past summer. A group of us visited Dragon Fly, one of the most popular "Western" spas in China. Ladies, an hour long hot oil massage was the equivalent to only $30. If only I could find the same quality service, for the same price (here in the U.S.) ;).

Not the greatest photo, but this is me after my hour-long massage. So relaxed! :)

Catching Up

Life has been super busy this week. Phhewww! I'm glad the weekend has arrived. I had two major events this week [at work] and I helped a friend move into her first home [the most adorable home by the way]. I've been relaxing all day today and watching college football. It's also my mother's birthday, so i'll be treating the family to Bonefish Grill tonight for dinner. Have you ever tried the Bang Bang fish? Yummers!

I plan on spending Sunday with some friends and we may take a trip to the outlets. I've refrained from any major shopping trips for about three weeks now. I deserve a little treat, right? :). There is also a newly renovated Forever 21, H&M and Zara at a local mall, so I'm dying to see what they have available.

Outfit Pick: Here's what I wore on Friday. No jeans for me...I was running around town attending  meetings all day! A rather interesting combination of colors, but it worked for me! :)

Top :: Ann Taylor (last seen here)
Cardigan :: Banana Republic (last seen here)
Skirt :: Forever 21 (last seen here)

I missed the first episode of Dancing with the Stars, but I'm dying to know what you ladies thought? Hopefully I'll find some time to watch this weekend, thanks to TIVO!

Have a fabulous weekend!

Fashion Bloggers Named F21 Style Icons

Ladies, I was taking a glance at the Forever21 website last night and realized that they have featured five, fabulous, fashion bloggers! Each blogger chosen has their own sense of style and your bound to relate to one of them. The bloggers selected their top picks from F21's Fall line and I've definitely drawn some inspiration from their choices.

I can most identify with Emily and Kelly. I'm in love with the idea of pairing hard with soft, neutrals with blacks and I can never get enough of animal prints [in healthy doses of course] :)

What blogger's style do you relate to the most? Any F21 finds you'll be purchasing this season?

Coach recently featured a POPPY promotion with fifteen fashion bloggers (as well as collaborating with four bloggers on a "Collectible" handbag collection in May), and apparently, Juicy Couture has a few projects in the works as well. Do you see this as just a fad or will fashion bloggers make a permanent mark in "the industry"?

Weekend Whine and CR Lace Top

Monday is here again. Why does it come along so quickly when you're having fun? The BF and I treat the weekends as mini vacations, since break from school and work don't come by as frequently as they once did. Remember three months off for the summer? A week or two off for spring break? Another few weeks off for the holidays? Being an adult has definitely put a damper on "free time."

Now that football season is back, I spent my Saturday watching SEC (South Eastern Conference) games at a friend's house. Tara baked the guys football-shaped sugar cookies and I made my special three-cheese, bean dip! Yumm.

I also started my new workout routine this weekend. I usually go to the gym three days a week and work on cardio. I plan on still attending the gym, but every other afternoon, I'll take a bike ride for a couple of miles. I used to ride when I was in college, and it was a great way to tone my legs.

Outfit Picks: When I first saw the Charlotte Russe lace top on a number of blog sites, I wanted to purchase it instantly. Unfortunately, it was sold out online and I had to call a few stores to locate it in my size. I LOVE this blouse. It's got a vintage feel and I always receive compliments when i wear it. I tucked it into a black skirt [this time] and paired with my nude pumps. Please excuse the nail polish. lol. It wasn't my first choice for this outfit, but Tara and I were doing nails on Sunday, and I really wanted another few days of wear before I removed. I love the Essie Resort Collection!

What does your workout routine look like? What fun things do you do with your friends as you root for your favorite football teams?

Remembering September 11th

I'm not sure what made me want to watch the replay of the NBC broadcasting today. I can't believe it has already been 9 years. Do you remember where you were when you heard about the attacks? I do. A number of my family members live in NY and worked in the city. The entire day was spent trying to get in touch. I remember [on that day] sitting in my dorm room and staring at the TV in disbelief, and thinking "this doesn't happen in America."

Sorry this post is a downer, but I wanted to pay a small tribute to the people who risked their lives on that faithful day. Thank you.

I'm a winner...it's official :)

I was thrilled when I received a Priority envelope in the mail today. I won tons and tons of fabric samples from Suzannah's blog contest, and I am super excited! The prints are beautiful and perfect for Fall. Now I just need to plan a project! Any ideas?

Outfit Picks: I had a series of important meetings today which called for pearls, a button-down, collared shirt and a jacket. There is just something about a collared shirt that is stuffy and makes me want to rip it off after a long day of work! lol... very happy it isn't a requirement for everyday workwear at the office :)

Blouse :: JCrew
Skirt :: Petite Sophisticate
Shoes :: Nine West (last seen here)
Handbag :: Coach (last seen here)

Ladies, have you ever won a blog contest? What goodies did you win?

On a side note... Isn't it always harder to start your week after you have enjoyed an extra-long weekend?! I'm not complaining Uncle Sam...bring on the holidays! :)

Beach bound on Labor Day.

Happy Labor Day dolls! I hope you all took full advantage of this extra long, three-day weekend. I know I did. The BF and I decided to head out to Tampa for the day...

uno, to play a few rounds of blackjack at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino; dos, to spend a handful of hours soaking up the sun at the beach, and; tres, to have dinner at one of our favorite, local, Tampa Mexican restaurants! YUM.

 Dress :: Forever 21

OOTD with a little inspiration.

Photo Credit: StyleCritic.com

Outfit Picks: I have always thought Adrienne Bailon had such a great sense of style. I saw this photo and created my own version of ruffles and a pencil skirt [sorry, the photos don't show my ruffled tank too well]. I paired with a burnt orange cardigan (for my chilly office) and nude pumps. I had to add some color to the outfit... just a tad bit too much black!

Skirt :: Petite Sophisticate
Shoes :: Mossimo for Target (purchase here, seen here)

Do you draw outfit inspirations from celebrities? Which celebrity's style do you most admire?

Ps. A new episode of the Real Housewives of DC airs tonight on BRAVO. Is anyone watching? What do you think about the new location and the new ladies?
